    This morning you will pick up your bike and start your journey through the northern part of California, a biker’s paradise! Cross the Golden Gate Bridge and follow Hwy 101 north. You might want to stop in the quaint seaside town of Sausalito. At Ignacio enter Hwy 121 north, which will take you on a scenic loop through Sonoma County and Napa Valley, past world-famous wineries and the renowned hot springs and mud baths of Calistoga. From Calistoga you are heading to Santa Rosa. Overnight.

    From Santa Rosa take Hwy 12 to Sebastapol, where you enter Bodega Hwy. Bodega is the place where you can get the chills and visit “The Birds “ schoolhouse from the Hitchcock movie. Continue on Hwy 1 up north and enjoy a beautiful ride along the Pacific Ocean. Near point arena you can see some of California’s most dramatic coastal scenery. Today’s destination is the picturesque town of Fort Bragg. Overnight.

    From Mendocino you are heading north to Fort Bragg. Here you enter Hwy 20 towards Willits – the Redwood Route – that will take you through Jackson State Forest. Be aware that there are several grade changes along this road and watch for deer throughout the forest! Once you are in Willits you join Hwy 101 north and ride all the way up to Fortuna. You travel through some of California’s most impressive and unspoilt landscape. Meander through Humboldt Redwood Park, rugged mountainous areas and rolling farmlands. You overnight in Fortuna.

    Starting in Fortuna, head east on Hwy 36 all the way to wildwood road. Turn right and stay on it until it ends. Be prepared for smooth curves, small logging towns, and having the roads almost to yourself – this pure isolated beauty is the essence of Northern California! Once you are in wildwood you get back on Hwy 36, which will take you all the way to the old railroad town of Red Bluff. Overnight.

    From Red Bluff you take Hwy 99 south to Chico – here you make a right turn on to Hwy 32 and then enter Hwy 45 south, which will take you all the way to Sacramento. Alternatively, from Red Bluff you continue on Hwy 36 east and ride through Lassen National Forest en route to Chico. You are in Sacramento Valley – ride along the Sacramento River, over to California’s capital. Overnight.

    Start in Sacramento you’ll ride the less traveled two-lane backroads along the river road past Rye and on through the historic town of Locke, founded by Chinese immigrants. Continue to Isleton and Antioch, where you enter Hwy 4 west to Concord, make a left turn on to Hwy 242, and in Walnut Ceek you take Hwy 24 to Berkeley. From here it’s only a short ride over the Bay Bridge back into San Francisco. Alternatively, you ride up to Richmond, take the Richmond Bridge to Marin County and visit Muir Woods. Return to San Francisco via Golden Gate Bridge. Back in San Francisco, it’s time to return your bike and transfer back to your hotel. Overnight.
