Southwest Winter Tour Getaway - Los Angeles to Las Vegas - GROUP TRAVEL - Tour Itinerary

Arrive at Los Angeles International airport and transfer to our tour hotel. Tonight you’ll have a chance to meet your fellow riders and van driver at a detailed orientation meeting, then head out for a great meal and some cold drinks!
Grab your sunblock, beach towel and helmet and roll your way south through classic southern California beach communities such as Newport Beach, Dana Point, Oceanside and Del Mar, perhaps stopping for coffee, lunch or a swim in the surf. Tonight you can explore the nightlife of San Diego in the famous Gas Lamp District, historic Old Town, or along the waterfront.
Today we head from the sand of the beaches to the sands of the Anza Borrego desert. Leaving San Diego you can choose to ride up the mountain town of Julian (shorter ride) to sample its world-famous apple pies, or head to the border town of Calexico (longer ride). Either way will take you along the shores of the desert anomaly – the Salton Sea. Stop by the Anza Borrego Desert State Park Visitor Center and explore the incredible variety of cacti and flowering plants that make up this desert landscape. We’ll end the day with cold drinks in the resort town of Palm Springs.
We continue our exploration of the southern California deserts with a ride through Joshua Tree National Park. Grab your riding gear and get ready for the incredible scenery of jumbled rocks and twisted Joshua Trees that can only be seen in the Mojave Desert around this park. From here we will head down the Twenty-Nine Palms highway until we arrive on the shores of the Colorado River and our stop for the night, Lake Havasu City – home of the second most famous London Bridge! Enjoy an evening of relaxing along the shoreline of Lake Havasu and soaking up the warmth of the desert sunset.
Today is all about the extraordinary landscape that makes up the Mojave Desert! Together with the Great Basin desert to the north, and the Sonoran desert to the south, this area makes up one of the largest deserts in the world. From the shores of the Colorado River we’ll work our way past sand dunes, forests of Joshua Trees, and dozens of species of cacti. Take a break at the historic Kelso Depot in the Mojave Desert Reserve, and get ready for the descent to one of the lowest points in elevation in the United States – Death Valley! Tonight we will sleep below sea level as we celebrate with the amazing landscapes we traversed today.
This is it! The last day of riding through the sun and “sandscapes” of Southern California! We will point our bikes east today and rise from the Valley floor toward the towering casinos of Las Vegas. Take your time as you work your way through the small desert oasis towns of Death Valley Junction, Shoshone, and Tecopa. For those with a bit more time, or for those who will be spending some more days in Las Vegas, take your time and enjoy the ride. Be sure to let us know if you would like to arrange a room at one of our partner hotels or resorts in Las Vegas.
