EagleRider debuted a new location in Rapid City, SD, just 28 miles down I-90 from the motorcycle mecca of Sturgis. The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, which annually attracts some 500,000 of the faithful for 10 days of wild fun and great rides, is also home to the popular town of Deadwood, some 42 miles from Rapid City, and Badlands National Park, 62 miles and another world away (be sure to stop at Wall Drug for a curiously strange shopping experience). Another popular ride is to Wyoming’s Devil’s Tower National Monument, some 106 miles from downtown Rapid City. Along the way to Devil’s Tower, throw the kickstand down in Sundance, WY, where a young Harry Longabaugh began his abbreviated life as an outlaw, and so became the Sundance Kid. Sturgis will be held August 3-12 in 2018.
Rapid City lies east of Black Hills National Forest. When it comes to South Dakota, most enthusiasts think only of Sturgis, but they should think again. The area is diverse and scenic, offering everything from Old West-like towns to thick forests to breathtaking deserts abandoned by time. The greater Rapid City area itself offers the Museum of Geology, South Dakota Air and Space Museum, art galleries, nature and wildlife areas, Reptile Gardens, Dinosaur Park, Black Hills Caverns, Storybook Island, Berlin Wall Exhibit, The Chapel in the Hills and many other attractions.
Motorcycles available to rent include the Harley-Davidson Electra Glide, Street Glide, Fat Boy, Heritage Softail, Dyna Low Rider, Road King, Sportster 1200 and 883, Road Glide and Freewheeler Trike.
