The Southern Appalachia Ride covers some of the best riding in Tennessee. Test your skills on hwy 129 “The Dragon” and its 318 curves in 11 miles. You will also find yourself riding other great motorcycling roads like The Cherohala Skyway, Moonshiner 28, The Foothills Parkway, and Devils Triangle. Along the way you will ride by beautiful waterfalls, explore Cades Cove, Gatlinburg, and see Clingmans Dome, Newfound Gap, and Mt. Leconte. You may also find yourself tubing down rivers, zip lining through the mountains, hiking local trails to spectacular overlooks and waterfalls, or learning about the history of the southern Appalachian Mountains. There are lots of things to see and do along this tour, especially if you wish to experience the nature of Eastern TN - which is breath taking any time of year.
Southern Appalachian Ride - Tour Itinerary
You will arrive at Nashville International Airport (BNA) and transfer on your own to your hotel. Nashville, also known as “Music City U.S.A.”, is the capital of Tennessee. Legendary country music venues include the Grand Ole Opry House, home of the famous “Grand Ole Opry”. The Country Music Hall of Fame and historic Ryman Auditorium are Downtown, alongside legendary honky-tonks, dive bars, and dance halls.
Today you will begin one of the best riding tours in this area of the country, the “Southern Appalachian Ride”. Heading east you will ride twisting highways with a short break at Fall Creek Falls on your way to Tellico Plains, where you'll find the Cherohala Skyway, in the heart of motorcycle country!
Day two will be a long one, but is likely to rank as one of the best days of riding you'll ever have. The Cherohala Skyway, Moonshiner 28, The Dragon, and The Foothills Parkway are just a few of the roads you will ride today; covering nearly 250 miles on writhing ribbons of asphalt draped over the beautiful mountains. Along your ride you will see breathtaking waterfalls and scenic overlooks as you experience the beauty the Blue Ridge and Smokey Mountains.
Today you will experience the nature of the Smoky Mountains and learn about its rich history. You will visit Cades Cove, hike to Clingmans Dome - the highest mountain in the Smokies, and zip line through the tree tops of beautiful Southern Appalachia. The night will come alive on the Gatlinburg strip, or you can relax at the Mountain View Inn after a long and active day.
Your final day will lead you westward, back to Murfreesboro. The tour will finish strong as you ride some of the best twisty roads in Middle TN.
