Glass House Mountains
The Glass House Mountains are in Queensland’s Sunshine Coast hinterland in an area that abounds with natural beauty, wildlife, mountain villages and craggy volcanic peaks that tower over the surrounding landscape. The Blackall Range ride is one of the most scenic in Australia, and provides views over the Glasshouse Mountains to the coast.
Located in nearby Beerwah is the world famous Australia Zoo home of Steve Erwin, the iconic Crocodile Hunter, where you can meet an abundance of Australian native wildlife. You can also enjoy a visit to the historic towns and charming villages of the area such as Mapleton, Montville and Maleny, which offer rainforest walks, natural swimming holes, fresh local produce and fine arts and crafts. With excellent bed and breakfast guesthouses and self-contained cottages as well as fine restaurants, a few days here are very easy to fill.
