San Francisco to Santa Cruz
Leave San Francisco EagleRider and take Interstate 280 and Hwy 1 South to Pacifica and Half Moon Bay. Stop in Half Moon Bay for coffee, refreshments, and visit the local curio shops. Continue south on Hwy 1. Stop at San Gregorio State Beach for sand, surf, and the great California coastline. Then proceed south on Hwy 1 to the Pescadores turn-off. The hamlet of Pescadores is 2 miles from the coast and there you will find Duarte's Tavern—a local favorite. Stop there for lunch or just browse around. Return to Hwy 1 south toward Santa Cruz. You could take a rest at several beaches along the way including Ano Nuevo State Reserve, where the sea lions congregate in large numbers—particularly during the breeding season. Then you can continue south to Santa Cruz where you can have an early dinner at many great restaurants before you return to San Francisco.
