Route 41 (U.S. Route 41)
Address: U.S. Route 41, Florida
US 41 cuts across the Florida peninsula, running through the vast Everglades wilderness. This section has been designated a National Scenic Byway. The byway runs from east to west (hence why locals call it the East Trail, in contrast to the road's otherwise north-south route) through the Big Cypress National Preserve, skirting the northern border of the Everglades National Park for about 20 miles (32 km). Also noteworthy is the part of the highway between Tampa and Miami known as the Tamiami Trail. Alligators are a common sight as you ride the Tamiami...just be aware that the trail is only one lane in each direction and has no fences to keep wildlife from crossing it!
