It's Biker Heaven...Each year, Sturgis' Main Street becomes a sea of motorcycles, leather and denim, not to mention, people. Since 1938, Sturgis has welcomed motorcycle enthusiasts from across the United States and around the world to the annual Motorcycle Rally. Based out of this small community in the northern Black Hills, it's a perfect place to ride. Attend the Rally once and it becomes clear why it's a mandatory destination for so many bikers. The sound of growling engines, the smell of exhaust, and the glint of sunlight off chrome are just a few of the elements that make the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally a unique experience. In 2015, a record 739,000 attended the rally’s 75th anniversary so expect to break more records for the rally’s 80th anniversary this year!.
And since it’s all about the journey, join us for a ride that celebrates the beauty and vast expanses of the West – from the red rock deserts surrounding Lake Powell and the Colorado river, through the mining country of the rugged Colorado Rockies, up through the endless plains and oil fields of southern Wyoming until you finally drop into the Black Hills of South Dakota. By the time you arrive in Sturgis, you will be primed to celebrate the experience of motorcycle riding across the wild landscapes of America!
Las Vegas to Sturgis 12 Day Tour - Tour Itinerary
Welcome to Las Vegas! We recommend arriving at the hotel a day early to explore Las Vegas and relax a bit before meeting your Tour Leaders. We will arrange a meeting time and place at the hotel for your tour orientation and tonight you will have a chance to meet the rest of the group at the Welcome Dinner. Get some rest as tomorrow we start our journey through some of the most amazing scenery in the Wild West!
Today your adventure begins! After biking up our bikes at EagleRider Las Vegas, we head east towards the multitude of red rock vistas and formations that make up this part of the American Southwest. From the hot desert to the cool pines, todays ride will end next to the blue waters of one of the largest human-created lakes in the United States – Lake Powell. Take in the views from Glen Canyon dam where you can gaze out at the waters of Lake Powell to the east and down the canyon depths to the Colorado River flowing from the bottom of the dam.
Our ride today takes us further into the amazing southwest as we head into the heart of Navajo country. With town names such as Tsigi and Teec Hos Pos you’ll truly feel as if you’ve entered another time and place. Stop at the famous Four Corners monument where the states of Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona all touch. Before heading into the town for Cortez for the night, if time allows, head into Mesa Verde National Park for a look at some of the best-preserved cliff dwellings in the Southwest!
Today is all about the Colorado Rocky Mountains! You’ll spend the day tracing a route through the Rockies that takes you from mining towns such as Silverton and Ouray riding along the WORLD FAMOUS MILLION DOLLAR Highway, continue on from Montrose to Redstone. Stunning views, winding roads – all the way to the beautiful Hot Springs of Glenwood Springs – your home for the night!
More amazing riding will be experienced today as we head north to continue our tour of the Rockies. We’ll spend the morning following the Colorado River, winding our way towards its headwaters. We eventually arrive in the town of Walden, located in the bowl-shaped basin of North Park. Surrounded by some of the state's most uniquely named mountain ranges — the Medicine Bow, the Never Summer and the Rabbit Ears — North Park provides a wonderful habitat for mammals, especially moose so keep your eyes open! Our stop tonight will be in the historic city of Laramie, Wyoming -home to the Wyoming Territorial Prison where from 1894-96, the notorious Butch Cassidy was held prisoner.
Today we blast our way north into the grasslands and badlands of South Dakota heading towards the huge party that is Sturgis! We’ll join thousands of others as they converge into Rapid City and Sturgis and spend the next three days three living the Biker Dream!
Let's shake off the dust from our first evening in Sturgis and go for a ride. There are a multitude of day ride opportunities to choose from. You can take in one of the organized trips, venture off on your own, or simply take the short trip back to downtown Sturgis to take in all that is Sturgis.
Day ride with the group or head back to Sturgis for another crazy day.
This is the last day to enjoy Sturgis. Let your imagination run wild!
We'll sleep in just a bit and hit the road late morning after a nice breakfast. The good news is we will start the journey to Cheyenne with one last trip through the Black Hills of South Dakota. The ride to Cheyenne is as beautiful as any of the day trips we have enjoyed over the past four days. Tonight we will enjoy some true cowboy hospitality and some of the finest steaks in Wyoming.
The final riding leg of our journey is not a long one, but definitely one to remember. We'll take one last ride through the heart of the Colorado Rocky Mountains before easing our way back into the city life that has seemed a million miles away for the past nine days. Tonight we will celebrate together and raise a glass to the accomplishment of a lifelong dream for most motorcycle riders, as we simply toast to "Sturgis."
Thanks for a great Sturgis Tour, and we will see you all on next year's adventure! EagleRider
