South Africa Guided Motorcycle Tour - Itinerario del Tour

Arrival at Cape Town International Airport in the morning. You will be met by your local guide or a private driver who will transfer you to a hotel situated close to the V&A Waterfront (Arrangements need to be made ahead of arrival and an addtl. charge may apply). Here you will have the opportunity to freshen up and explore the nearby V&A waterfront. You will meet with your local Tour Guide in the afternoon for a short first briefing and all questions you may have. Evening is at your leisure. Overnight in Cape Town.
Day at leisure. After breakfast you could join one of our local guide for a city tour by Bus that includes the Highlights of Capetown and the Table Mountain Cable Car Ride (optional charge). On this route you will be able to see and experience all the main attractions of the city. Early evening there will be a tour briefing followed by a welcome dinner at an African restaurant with music and entertainment. Overnight in Cape Town.
This morning you will be transferred to the Harley-Davidson® Dealer to take possession of your bikes. After completing all the formalities and a short briefing the tour will commence. We will be travelling along the coast to Betty’s Bay where we visit the local African Penguin colony. Our destination is the coastal resort town of Hermanus, famous for its whale watching. During the winter months Southern Right Whales migrate from the Antarctic to these shores. Overnight in Hermanus.
Today we ride through the granary of South Africa to the most southern tip of Africa , Cape Algulhas, where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet. This can be best viewed by ascending the old light house. In Bredasdorp we will be visiting Kapula Candles where the famous candles are hand crafted. After lunch in the historic town of Swellendam we will ride along the garden route to Mossel Bay, where Bartholomeu Diaz and Vasco da Gama came ashore during the 15th century. Here you will have the opportunity to swim in the Indian Ocean. Overnight at a beach hotel in Mossel Bay.
The Garden Route is one of the most favourite destinations in South Africa. The route officially begins at Swellendam and ends in Humansdorp, close to Port Elizabeth. Our route today will take us to the beautiful town of Knysna with its attractive harbour and lagoon. We will stop here for a coffee break whereafter we will ride up to the famous Knysna Heads which overlooks the ocean and lagoon. After lunch in Plettenberg Bay you will have the option of visiting Monkeyland Primate Reserve (optional charge). On this very diverse route we will arrive at Tsitsikamma National Park. Overnight in Storms River.
Today we will head further along the Garden Route and travel along a small section of the well known Route 62. Just in time for a coffee break we will reach the surfer’s paradise, Jeffries Bay where you will have an opportunity to shop at the Billabong and Quiksilver factory outlets where great bargains are to be found. From there we travel to our guest lodge near Addo Elephant National Park where we have lunch and the afternoon to relax by the pool. Late afternoon we will depart for the Addo Elephant NP and one of the highlights of the tour, a true African experience, a combined sunset and night safari in an open safari vehicle. Snacks, beer and wine will be served during the drive. As early as 1931 the National Park had been established and now offers the BIG FIVE: elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard. Overnight in Addo.
Today we ride through the Little Karoo region to the historic town of Graaff-Reinet which is one of the oldest and best kept towns with it’s more than 200 historical and protected buildings. Along the route we will see many Vervet Monkeys. After lunch at our guest house you will have time to relax at the pool before ascending the steep and curvy road to the Valley of Desolation, located in the Camdeboo National Park. The views of the valley and the Karoo landscape below are breathtaking. There you might also spot the majestic black eagle. Overnight in Graaff-Reinet.
The town of Oudtshoorn beyond the Eastern Cape Mountains would certainly be a sleepy hollow were it not for the high number of large ostrich farms. The earlier boom times of ostrich feather farming is long gone but today the meat and leather are extremely popular commodities. We shall visit an ostrich show farm and will discover what makes the ostrich industry so important today. Tonight's Dinner will have ostrich steak on the menu and paired with excellent local wines, will make up for a perfect evening! Overnight in Oudtshoorn.
This morning we ride Route 62, which measured on its fame here in South Africa, is comparable to Route 66 in the USA – it is just a bit smaller but definitely as appealing. It also happens to be the longest wine route in the world and some wineries along the route produce some of the best port wines. It goes without saying that we shall visit the obligatory biker pubs, like Ronnies Sex Shop, the Diesel & Creme Diner and the Karoo Saloon – all of their owners are of course avid Harley Bikers and are looking forward to our visit. Our afternoon ride will lead us over two nice passes and thru the historical town of Montagu, located on Route 62. Of interest, the town is well known for it’s fruit farms and dry fruit production. Overnight in the Touws River Area.
This morning we will start the day by riding over our first exciting mountain pass and will arrive in the Ceres area. The narrow and curvy Baviaans Kloof Pass will give you amazing views over the wine country. We will have Lunch at a winery, where you can do also some light wine tasting. The afternoon will lead us over the du Toits Kloof Pass and the scenic Franschhoek Pass. The Cape Winelands with its well known villages of Paarl, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch is only an hour drive away from Cape Town. This region was founded by the former Dutch and French colonists and is well known for the production of fine wines. After a few more challenging mountain passes we arrive in the so called heart of the winelands region. Overnight in the Stellenbosch Area.
We depart from the historical town of Stellenbosch, founded by the Dutch settlers. The town is not only the focal point of the wine industry but has a number of historical Cape Dutch buildings as well as the Stellenbosch University. We then ride toward False Bay and follow the coast to the Cape of Good Hope passing through a few quaint fishing villages. The Cape of Good Hope was first rounded by the explorer Bartholmeu Diaz in in 1488 in search of a new trade route to the east around the tip of Africa. We then head toward Cape Town along the spectacular Chapmans Peak Drive and through the popular beach resorts of Hout Bay, Camps Bay and Clifton. We will arrive in Cape Town to return the motorbikes just in time for Lunch. You will spend the last two nights in Capetown again. This afternoon and evening will be at your own leisure where you have the opportunity to dine at one of the many restaurants in the V&A Waterfront. Overnight in Cape Town. Our Travel Tip: Enjoy a sunset cruise on a catamaran yacht followed by dinner in one of the best seafood restaurants in Cape Town.
Day at leisure. We recommend a visit to the V&A Waterfront, Long Street, Green Market Square or the Camps Bay/Clifton beaches. Overnight in Cape Town. Our Travel Tip: Take a Helicopter ride over the three bays around the Cape.
This morning will be at your leisure and perhaps some last-minute shopping. Early afternoon we will transfer you to the airport and you will fly out on a night flight back to Europe/UK/USA

South Africa Tour - 11th February 2018

Just completed one of the most scenic tours in South Africa on a Harley Davidson with 3 other fellow Harley Riders. The 1,600 mile tour, organised by Eagle Rider, took in; Cape Town, the Garden Route, the Wine country, Animal Safaris and the Cape of Good Hope. The tour was guided by Linus du Toit who had extensive knowledge of the route and made this a most memorable tour for all the riders. The small boutique hotels that we stayed in along the way, were just amazing and the only regret was not staying in some of these for longer than one night.

South Africa Spring Tour 2017

The Tour was amazing, I just got back. Excellent brand new bikes. Accommodation was a nice mix of local and traditional Hotels and B&B´s and a pleasant surprise. I also like to mention the great variety off food and of course the wine, and all this for relatively small money, considering other destinations. The Guides were of great knowledge and always had an open ear for us. One of the best tours I did in my life.
