Continuing BMW motorcycle’s tradition of combining unique character with timeless elegance is the R1200R. Weighing in at under 500lbs, this lean machine is much lighter than many other four-cylinders but still manages to deliver thrills, precision, and attitude. The R 1200 R is perfect for touring or going across town, for navigating sharp turns or cruising straightaways. In addition to offering exhilarating performance, its high-tech features also provide comfort and adaptability, making it a great choice for one or two riders.
An Outstanding Performer
Raising the bar for agility while keeping all-around touring capabilities in mind, the R1200R is all performance. The 1200cc engine delivers a generous 109hp, while a low center of gravity and a Telelever suspension system deliver excellent handling. The surefooted roadster’s electronic suspension adjustment (ESA) allows you to adjust the suspension at the touch of a button, enabling you to switch from single to two-up to one of numerous other riding profiles with ease.
Comfort Meets Capability
Simply put, the R1200R feels like a luxury car. The upright riding profile means potholes are shrugged off easily, and the high, ergonomically-designed seat allows for a relaxed knee angle, offering wonderful comfort for both you and your passenger. And for a “naked” bike, the R1200R isn’t too shabby in the looks department, either; its good looks make for a stylish ride that still remains remarkably functional.
A Reel Roadster
The R 1200 R can be seen in Tony Scott’s The Taking of Pelham 123, starring Denzel Washington and John Travolta.
