State of the Art Features
The R 1200 GSA Adventure has the same 105 hp, 1,170cc air-cooled engine that comes with the standard model but includes a 8.7 gallon fuel tank that extends its range to over 465 miles! A larger windscreen, hand protectors and footrests help buffer the elements while tank, engine and valve covers protectors keep the bike sparkling when the trail gets rough. An extra .79 inches of suspension travel over the standard R 1200 GS lets the GSA handle the extra fuel and aluminum side cases mounted to its stainless steel luggage rack. The R1200GSA also sports a heavy duty 720W alternator to provide power to various accessories.
All features included on the standard model are also included with the GSA such as a six-speed gearbox, ABS brakes, On Board Computer and Enduro ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) that allows for custom shock absorber settings.
Reality TV Adventures
Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman, rode two R1200GSA motorcycles from Scotland to South Africa in 2007 during a 4 month trip that was later developed into a book and television series called Long Way Down. It was also featured as one of the bikes on the TV series Fifth Gear.
