Miles : 240 Kilometers : 386

Western Highlights I Motorcycle Tour

From Palm Springs take Hwy 62 towards Joshua Tree, where you turn right on Park Blvd. Enjoy a scenic ride through Joshua Tree National Park – you see amazing colors, rock canyons, and more kind of cacti than you ever knew existed. You do the loop to Twentynine Palms, continue a few miles on Hwy 62 and follow the Old Mother Road – via Amboy, Essex and Needles. Cross into Arizona and ride to Kingman, considered the “Heart of Route 66”, your stop for tonight.

Day 4 :Kingman - Grand Canyon

Your ride continues down Memory Lane, and you stick with the “Road of all Roads” until you arrive in Williams. This is your gateway to the Grand Canyon. Day 5 :Grand Canyon - Page
Miles : 140 Kilometers : 225

Western Highlights I Motorcycle Tour

Continue on Route 64, which is breathtaking in its desolation - that is until you reach Hwy 89 at Cameron. Turn left and head towards Page. You are in Navajo Country here – legend has it that this barren land was a bewitched place, where the trees died of fear. You overnight in Page.

Western Highlights I Motorcycle Tour

From Page you take Hwy 89 west and cruise the Vermillion Cliffs and about 8 miles out of Page you will enter Utah. The scenery dissipates and the long straight roads change little until you get to the section of Grande Escalante – arches striped red, brown and white dot the landscape here. At Mount Carmel Junction you pick up Hwy 9, which takes you all the way to Zion National Park. Compared to Yosemite and the Grand Canyon, Zion exudes a stronger sense of nature. Here, you and your bike make immediate contact with the environment. Check out the Seven-Mile Zion Park Scenic Drive – a great ride! You continue a few more miles into St, George, where you overnight.

Day 7 :St. George - Las Vegas
Miles : 160 Kilometers : 258

Western Highlights I Motorcycle Tour

Take Hwy 15, which will take you all the way into Las Vegas. En route you might want to stop at the historic town of Mesquite, situated at the Stateline of Nevada/Arizona. You will arrive into Las Vegas – the city steeped in excess – from the north. It’s probably a good idea to experience Las Vegas for yourself to get a fair idea of this place. After all it’s a playground for adults, a place where you can feel the same freedom you experience on your bike. Overnight.

Day 8 :Las Vegas - Lone Pine
Miles : 240 Kilometers : 386

Western Highlights I Motorcycle Tour

You are leaving Las Vegas on Route 160, go up to Hwy 190, which will lead you west through the Death Valley – a lonely stretch, no twists and turns, just rolling desert. After defeating Death Valley you head on to Lone Pine, which is a purely American experience…more than 300 Western movies were filmed here. Overnight.

Day 9 :Lone Pine - Yosemite Nat'l Park
Miles : 210 Kilometers : 338

Western Highlights I Motorcycle Tour

From Lone Pine you take Hwy 395, the road out of Lone Pine stays in true form: impressive mountains and straight runs. Continue north and you will blaze down the road with the Sierra Nevada’s on the left and the Inyo Mountains on the right. The spicy fragrance of the desert is just as bracing as the chill of the mountain air – enjoy this motorcycle friendly road! Ride up to the nice town of Lee Vining, where you enter Tioga Pass and then head all the way to Yosemite Village (74 miles). Overnight.

Day 10 :Yosemite Nat'l Park - Santa Rosa
Miles : 240 Kilometers : 386

Western Highlights I Motorcycle Tour

Today your journey will take you up north to Sonoma County, home of well-known wineries and hot springs. We suggest taking Hwy 99 from Modesto to Lodi, where you enter Hwy 12, which will take you all the way to Santa Rosa. En route to Santa Rosa you might want to stop in Napa, Sonoma, and some of the famed wineries, such as Glen Ellen or Kenwood. You overnight in Santa Rosa.

Day 11 :Santa Rosa - San Francisco
Miles : 65 Kilometers : 105

Western Highlights I Motorcycle Tour

Continue south to San Francisco. From Santa Rosa ride a scenic loop and continue west on Hwy 12 (Hwy 116) until you come to Hwy 1 (PCH). Ride along the Coast in Sonoma and Marin County, through the Redwoods up to Hwy 101, which will take you into San Francisco. Cross the Golden Gate Bridge and enjoy the beautiful city by the Bay. Overnight.

Day 12 :San Francisco - Monterey
Miles : 120 Kilometers : 193

Western Highlights I Motorcycle Tour

Enjoy one of the best motorcycle rides in the world, down legendary PCH (Hwy 1) along the Pacific Ocean. Breathtaking views of the coves and inlets of the Pacific Coastline are yours as you are heading for Monterey. You might like to explore some of the Santa Cruz Mountain back roads. Have a cup of coffee at Alice’s Restaurant at famous Skyline Boulevard – a must for every biker! In Monterey enjoy life at Cannery Row or visit the Bay Aquarium. Overnight.

Day 13 :Monterey - Pismo Beach
Miles : 160 Kilometers : 258

Western Highlights I Motorcycle Tour

From Monterey your exciting ride continues south on PCH and we recommend a stop in the quaint village of Carmel. You might want to check out Hearst Castle in San Simeon for a glimpse into the lifestyle of the rich and famous. A little further south you come to Morro Bay – Central Coast at it’s best!
