Our next pass comes shortly thereafter as we cross Fremont Pass into Leadville, one of the highest towns in Colorado. As we travel along the Arkansas River you’ll see some of the 52 “14’ers” in Colorado, peaks over 14.000’ high. A turn north at Walsenburg will bring us along the eastern side of the Sangre de Cristo mountains before we reach our destination Colorado Springs.

From there it is only a short trip into Denver where we – reluctantly – say good bye to a beautiful and unforgettable journey.
