Tour Itinerary

Arrival at Cape Town International Airport in the morning. You will be met by your local guide who will transfer you to a hotel situated close to the V&A Waterfront. Here you will have the opportunity to freshen up and, weather permitting, enjoy a trip by cable car to the top of Table Mountain. Table Mountain is one of the seven new natural wonders and the views from the top are truly spectacular. The rest of the evening is at your leisure. Overnight in Cape Town.
Day of leisure. After breakfast, you could hop on a double-decker bus for a city tour of Cape Town and surrounding area. On this route, you will be able to see and experience all the main attractions of the city. Early evening we’ll kick-off our adventure with a “Meet & Greet” with your fellow riders and EagleRider Support Team to go over what to expect from the awesome journey ahead, as well as some important safety tips and information, followed by a welcome dinner at a restaurant serving African fare with music and entertainment. Overnight in Cape Town.
This morning you will be transferred to the rental provider to take possession of your bikes, and after a short briefing we’ll will hit the road!. We’ll will be travelling along the beautiful False Bay coast to Betty’s Bay to visit the local African Penguin colony. Our destination is the coastal resort town of Hermanus, famous for its whale watching. During the winter months, Southern Right Whales migrate from the Antarctic to these shores. Overnight in Hermanus.
Today we ride through the wheat area of South Africa to the most southern tip of Africa, Cape Agulhas, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. This can be best viewed by ascending the old light house. In Bredasdorp we will be visiting Kapula Candles where these famous candles are hand crafted. After lunch in the historic town of Swellendam we will ride along the Garden Route to Mossel Bay, where Bartholomeu Diaz and Vasco da Gama came ashore during the 15th century. Here you will have the opportunity to swim in the Indian Ocean. Overnight at a beach hotel in Mossel Bay.
The Garden Route is a favourite destination in South Africa. The route officially begins at Swellendam and ends in Humansdorp, close to Port Elizabeth. Our route today will take us to the beautiful town of Knysna with its attractive harbour and lagoon. We will stop here for a coffee break whereafter we will ride up to the famous Knysna Heads which overlooks the ocean and lagoon. After lunch in Plettenberg Bay you will have the option of visiting Monkeyland Primate Reserve. On this very diverse route we will arrive at Tsitsikamma National Park. Overnight in Storms River.
Today we will head further along the Garden Route and travel along a small section of the famous Route 62. Just in time for the tea break we will reach the surfer’s paradise, Jeffreys Bay, where you will have an opportunity to shop at the Billabong and Quiksilver factory outlets where great bargains are to be found. From there we travel to our guest lodge near Addo Elephant National Park where we have lunch and the afternoon to relax by the pool. Late afternoon we will depart for the Addo Elephant NP and experience one of the highlights of the tour, a true African experience, a combined sunset and night safari in an open safari vehicle. Snacks, beer, and wine will be served during the drive. As early as 1931 the National Park had been established and now offers the BIG FIVE: elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, and leopard. Overnight in Addo.
Today we ride through the Little Karoo region to the historic town of Graaff- Reinet which is one of the oldest and best kept towns with more than 200 historical and protected buildings. Along the route we will see many Vervet Monkeys. After lunch at our guest house you will have time to relax at the pool before ascending the steep and curvy road to the Valley of Desolation, located in the Camdeboo National Park. The views of the valley and the Karoo landscape below are breathtaking. Here you might also spot the majestic black eagle. Overnight in Graaff- Reinet
The town of Oudtshoorn beyond the mountains would certainly be a sleepy hollow were it not for the high number of large ostrich farms. The earlier boom times of ostrich feather farming is long gone, but today the meat and leather are extremely popular commodities. We will visit an ostrich show farm and discover what makes the ostrich industry so important today. If you so wish, you may ride an ostrich but there will, of course, be a beer bet to see who can stay on the longest! Our dinner will be a traditional South African barbeque (braai) including the favourite ostrich steak, as well as good local wines which will make for a perfect evening! Overnight in Oudtshoorn.
This morning you may visit one of the biggest limestone caves in the world, the Cango Caves. Afterwards we ride Route 62, which measured on its fame here in South Africa, is comparable to Route 66 in the USA. However, it is just a bit smaller but definitely as appealing. It also happens to be the longest wine route in the world and some wineries along the route produce some of the best port wines. It goes without saying that we shall visit the obligatory biker pubs, like Ronnies Sex Shop, the Country Pumpkin Restaurant and the Karoo Saloon, all of their owners are of course avid Harley Bikers and are looking forward to our visit. You will overnight in the historical town of Montagu, located on Route 62. Of interest, the town is well known for its natural thermal pools of 42 C (107F) which are a short distance from the hotel. Overnight in Montagu.
This morning we will start the day by riding over our first exciting mountain pass and arrive in the Ceres area where we have lunch. After lunch we will be riding along the Slanghoek mountains where we stop for a wine tasting at one of the local wineries. The Cape Winelands, with its well-known villages of Paarl, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch, are only an hour drive away from Cape Town. This region was founded by the former Dutch and French colonists and is well known for the production of fine wines. After a few more challenging mountain passes we arrive in the so-called heart of the winelands region. Overnight in Paarl.
We depart for the historical town of Stellenbosch, founded by the Dutch settlers. The town is not only the focal point of the wine industry but has a number of historical Cape Dutch buildings as well as the Stellenbosch University. We then ride toward False Bay and follow the coast to the Cape of Good Hope passing through a few quaint fishing villages. The Cape of Good Hope was first rounded by the explorer Bartholmeu Diaz in in 1488 in search of a new trade route to the east around the tip of Africa. We then head toward Cape Town along the spectacular Chapmans Peak Drive and through the popular beach resorts of Hout Bay, Camps Bay, and Clifton. We will arrive in Cape Town late afternoon where you will spend the last few nights. This evening will be at your own leisure where you have the opportunity to dine at one of the many restaurants in the V&A Waterfront area. Overnight in Cape Town.
This morning we ride to the north along the coast to Bloubergstrand, a popular coastline where we will take a coffee break and enjoy the spectacular views of Table Bay and Table Mountain. Around noon we will return the motorcycles to the rental provider. The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure. We recommend a visit to the V&A Waterfront, Long Street, Green Market Square or the Camps Bay/Clifton beaches. Overnight in Cape Town. Our Tip: Enjoy a sunset cruise on a catamaran yacht followed by dinner in one of the best seafood restaurants in Cape Town.
This morning will be at your leisure and perhaps some last-minute shopping. Early afternoon we will transfer you to the airport and you will fly out on a night flight back to Europe/UK/USA

South Africa Spring Tour 2017

The Tour was amazing, I just got back. Excellent brand new bikes. Accommodation was a nice mix of local and traditional Hotels and B&B´s and a pleasant surprise. I also like to mention the great variety off food and of course the wine, and all this for relatively small money, considering other destinations. The Guides were of great knowledge and always had an open ear for us. One of the best tours I did in my life.
