EagleRider's World famous Route 66 motorcycle tour travels the original Route 66, known as the "Mainstreet of America" or "Mother Road", is 2400 miles long from Chicago to Los Angeles, crosses three time zones and 8 States: Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. Route 66 has been the path of migrants, dreamers, desperadoes and an entire generation of vacationers discovering the way west. The 1950's were the Route 66 glory days, when thousands of cars rode bumper to bumper behind each other to experience the Western frontier. Hotels, motels, gas stations, classic restaurants, and the "New" America sprang up everywhere. Much of Route 66's classic roads, restaurants, gas stations, and nostalgic landmarks are preserved just as they were in the 1950’s. The famous and nostalgic Route 66 is the road created in heaven for motorcycle touring. Simply stated, this is the guided tour of America!
route 66 tour 01/06/2017-15/06/2017
my husband had dreamed of riding route 66 for best part of his life. we decided why put off till tomorrow what can be done today and booked the tour. from start to finish the tour was packed with excitement, thrills and laughter! our tour guides were Richard Wynkoop and Rui Oliveira. The guys could not have looked after us better. we rode an Indian Roadmaster which my husband loved and it was very comfortable for me too. It was a large group of amazing people and Richard managed to keep us all together and safe and by the end of the tour we became a really close group! Richard even seemed to be able to control the weather! he some how managed to navigate us across the country just bypassing various seasons of weather! it was such an emotional experience and far exceeded our expectations. Richard is a credit to eagle rider they are lucky to have such an experienced guide and what a great guy! he looked after us from morning till night and even mopped our brows in the morning too! Rui kept us well hydrated and cool and was it was great knowing we had the security of such a great guy behind us all the way! and always a smile to follow! the scenery was mind blowing and evoked a tear or two. The accommodation was great and the smaller hotels were very friendly and welcoming especially in Joplin where we were greeted by the manager with drinks and snacks and even patches to remember the place. The guys a gay parita also welcomed us with refreshments including ice cream! the only negative experience of the whole thing was handing our bike back at the end which again evoked a tear or too and not just from me! so ditch the sun bed holidays and hit the road jack!! this has been a life changing experience for both of us and we will be back! : ) thank you eagle rider and more importantly Richard and Rui for being such fantastic guides. Debbie and Steve x
Route 66 Tour 11th to 25th May
I was a passenger on this tour (this being a bucket list item of my better half's) and whilst I was looking forward to the holiday nothing could prepare me for how magical it ended up being. The mother road and the characters you meet along the way are special and great to see people retaining it's heritage.
As many of others have said we rode with a great bunch of guys and gals in our group (including two friends) and our guides Richard and Wendy Wynkoop were second to none, absolutely nothing was to much trouble for either of them and they went above and beyond anything most of us were expecting to ensure that this was the best experience we could have. These guys represent all the positives of Eagle Rider and are a credit to the company, they navigated us safely through a range of weather conditions from a supercell storm with tornadoes to 110 degree heat of the Mojave desert, they were superb and we couldn't have asked for any better guides!
Hotels were of a good standard and comfortable coming in from a long days ride, but as Nick and David have said the Laughlin hotel was poor at best (bathroom sink blocked, only one working light, problems with toilet, breakfast delays etc). ER this needs to be removed from your schedule and another hotel chosen as for me this was the only slight downside on a fabulous experience...
Would I recommend this tour? absolutely its an amazing experience and one you will never forget...will I come on another one? definitely I'm now toying with the idea of taking my bike test as a result of this tour and would like to do the Rockies once I have experience under my belt and in an ideal world with Richard and Wendy again as the guides
if you are considering the tour I would say stop considering and just do it..you wont regret it :)
