EagleRider's World famous Route 66 motorcycle tour travels the original Route 66, known as the "Mainstreet of America" or "Mother Road", is 2400 miles long from Chicago to Los Angeles, crosses three time zones and 8 States: Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. Route 66 has been the path of migrants, dreamers, desperadoes and an entire generation of vacationers discovering the way west. The 1950's were the Route 66 glory days, when thousands of cars rode bumper to bumper behind each other to experience the Western frontier. Hotels, motels, gas stations, classic restaurants, and the "New" America sprang up everywhere. Much of Route 66's classic roads, restaurants, gas stations, and nostalgic landmarks are preserved just as they were in the 1950’s. The famous and nostalgic Route 66 is the road created in heaven for motorcycle touring. Simply stated, this is the guided tour of America!
Route 66 Tour 11th to 25th May
I was a passenger on this tour (this being a bucket list item of my better half's) and whilst I was looking forward to the holiday nothing could prepare me for how magical it ended up being. The mother road and the characters you meet along the way are special and great to see people retaining it's heritage.
As many of others have said we rode with a great bunch of guys and gals in our group (including two friends) and our guides Richard and Wendy Wynkoop were second to none, absolutely nothing was to much trouble for either of them and they went above and beyond anything most of us were expecting to ensure that this was the best experience we could have. These guys represent all the positives of Eagle Rider and are a credit to the company, they navigated us safely through a range of weather conditions from a supercell storm with tornadoes to 110 degree heat of the Mojave desert, they were superb and we couldn't have asked for any better guides!
Hotels were of a good standard and comfortable coming in from a long days ride, but as Nick and David have said the Laughlin hotel was poor at best (bathroom sink blocked, only one working light, problems with toilet, breakfast delays etc). ER this needs to be removed from your schedule and another hotel chosen as for me this was the only slight downside on a fabulous experience...
Would I recommend this tour? absolutely its an amazing experience and one you will never forget...will I come on another one? definitely I'm now toying with the idea of taking my bike test as a result of this tour and would like to do the Rockies once I have experience under my belt and in an ideal world with Richard and Wendy again as the guides
if you are considering the tour I would say stop considering and just do it..you wont regret it :)
Route 66 Tour May 11th - 25th
This is my 2nd Route 66 tour with Eaglerider and my third tour with you altogether! ( 2 x 66 + 1 x Rockies)
Richard and Wendy Wynkoop were a fantastic team and a credit to Eaglerider. Richard was an outstanding guide, knowing much about the history of Route 66 and the places we visited. His forward planning was exemplary and despite some challenging weather conditions kept us all safe during our incredible journey. This has been by far the best managed tour!
Hotel accommodation was generally of a high standard apart from Laughlin where the standard of room and arrangements for breakfast were poor with many of our group going elsewhere and paying to eat as the queue for breakfast was too long and we had limited time! This was the fault of the hotel, not Eaglerider. We would not hesitate to recommend Richard and Wendy together with Eaglerider and hope we ride together again sometime in the future!
