Day 2 : Los Angeles - Ensenada

Baja Experience - Self Drive

This morning you pick up your bike at EagleRider LAX location and you are in for a most exciting adventure. You are heading south, ride via Long Beach, Orange County all the way to San Diego and to the Mexican border. It’s about an hour’s ride from here to your first stop south of the border. Ensenada offers good entertainment, restaurants, street cafes and bars along Avenida Lopez Mateos. Make sure to visit one of the oldest bars in Mexico - Hussong’s. Overnight in Ensenada, which is one of Baja’s foremost summer resorts.

Day 3 : Ensenada - Catavina

Baja Experience - Self Drive

Continue on Hwy 1, the road leaves the coast as you ride south and dive deeper into Baja. Cirio trees and giant cacti begin to appear alongside the road. You enter the Vizcaino Desert, one of the most fascinating desert regions on this continent, and experience fantastic views of bolder formations, rugged hills and dense desert vegetation. Overnight.

Day 4 : Catavina - San Ignacio

Baja Experience - Self Drive

Leave Catavina on Hwy 1 and continue through this fascinating country over several 3.000 feet summits, past flat topped volcanic cones and cactus covered hills into the charming pueblo San Ignacio, an authentic desert oasis located at the bottom of a wide arroyo with date palms and cold ponds. Overnight.

Day 5 : San Ignacio - Loreto

Baja Experience - Self Drive

Continue on Hwy 1, and this morning you should not miss visiting the massive ‘Volcan Las Tres Virgenes’. You descend Devils Grade, seven miles of switchbacks that take you down to the Coast of the Sea of Cortez. Ride past the beautiful Bahia Concepcion, and enjoy the scenery of deep-blue waters, volcanic islands and isolated beaches. In the afternoon you arrive in Loreto, which is the oldest Spanish settlement along the West Coast. The town offers a picturesque central plaza. Overnight.

Day 6 : Loreto - La Paz

Baja Experience - Self Drive

Your ride takes you along the base of the Sierra de la Giganta Mountains, and Hwy 1 then rapidly climbs up to the summit past hat shaped mountain peaks. You reach the Santa Domingo Valley and make your way across the peninsula until you get to the edge of a large lagoon with the city of La Paz in sight in the distance. La Paz is the capital of the state of Baja California Sur, and its history is one of the most turbulent of any community on the entire Baja California Peninsula. Overnight.

Day 7 : La Paz - Cabo San Lucas

Baja Experience - Self Drive

From La Paz you stick with Hwy 1 all the way into San Jose del Cabo and down the coast of the Bahia San Lucas, which was a favorite hiding place for pirates back in the 16th and 17th century. Today, the international resort community is called Cabo San Lucas and you are here to enjoy it all. Just before arriving in Cabo you get a view of ‘Land’s End’, the southern most tip of the Baja Peninsula. Cabo San Lucas will be your base for the next two nights. Overnight.

Day 8 : Cabo San Lucas

Baja Experience - Self Drive

Today is at leisure to enjoy the stark and stunning scenery of Baja’s dramatically beautiful southern tip – rocks, water and big blue sky of this picture perfect destination. Los Cabos has a by-the-seaside feel that is distinctly Mexican, aided immeasurably by the unspoiled grandeur of its desert setting. Overnight.

Day 9 : Cabo San Lucas - Los Barriles

Baja Experience - Self Drive

It’s time to head back north again, and you take Hwy 1 to get back to Los Barriles, located at the Bahia Las Palmas. The scenery is simply magnificent: intensely blue water, a backdrop of mountains and rugged cliffs, stands of huge cacti. Overnight.

Day 10 : Los Barriles - Loreto

Baja Experience - Self Drive

Pick up Hwy 1 and ride north via San Antonio, Santa Rita, Ciudad Constitucion and Ciudad Insurgentes. Your ride will take you across the broad agricultural expanse over to the Coast of the Sea of Cortez. Loreto was the departure point from which Junipero Serra launched his northward quest in 1769 to establish a chain of missions in Alta California. Overnight.

Day 11 : Loreto - Guerrero Negro

Baja Experience - Self Drive

You stick with Hwy 1 and continue north, via Mulege - an old and traditional Mexican Town in an oasis in the middle of the Baja California desert. The Mission of Santa Rosalia Mulege is definitely worth a visit while in the area. Back on the road you ride via Santa Rosalia and San Ignacio over to Guerrero Negro, located within the barren Vizcaino Desert, just south of the Baja California Sur state border. The area around Guerrero Negro is part of the El Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve, designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1993. Encompassing bays, lagoons, vast expanses of the Sonoran Desert and the rugged Sierra Mountains, El Vizcaino is an important breeding and wintering site for the California gray whale. Overnight.

Day 12 : Guerrero Negro - San Quintin

Baja Experience - Self Drive

You continue riding north on Hwy 1, through one of the most desolate portions on the entire peninsula, Vizcaino Desert– the Sierra Colombia on your left and Sierra La Assamblea to your right. En route to Catavina you will pass several dry lakes. Stick with Hwy 1 and you are heading to El Rosario, back to the Coast. From here it’s just a few miles to San Quintin, your base for tonight.

Day 13 : San Quintin - Ensenada

Baja Experience - Self Drive

You leave the great beaches of San Quintin and are on your way to Ensenada, the city, which boasts a scenic setting, pleasant weather, duty free shopping, fine sport fishing and close proximity to the United States. Enjoy your last evening south of the border. Overnight.

Day 14 : Ensenada - San Diego

Baja Experience - Self Drive

Today your trip will take you back into the Unites States – you take Hwy 1 out of Ensenada and enjoy a scenic ride along the Coast. It’s a mere 20 miles from the Mexican border to San Diego, your stop for tonight. San Diego is a cultural oasis – and may well be your prototypical Southern California city. Visually, it brings to life the timeless images evoked by the Beach Boys’ 1965 pop classic, “California Girls”: sunshine, sand, and palm trees. The weather is close to ideal – sunny and mild to warm, practically year-round. Overnight.

Day 15 : San Diego - Los Angeles

Baja Experience - Self Drive

Continue riding along the Pacific Coast, and enjoy picture – perfect beach resorts, like Del Mar, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach – Surf City USA Huntington Beach, and a few miles further north you’ll reach Long Beach, home of the Queen Mary. Once you are back in Los Angeles, it will be time to return your bike at EagleRider ‘s LAX location and transfer back to the hotel. Overnight.

Day 16 : Los Angeles Departure

Baja Experience - Self Drive

Today, your most adventurous vacation will come to and end with your departure flight back home.
